Fifty-seven years ago today, Martin Luther King gave his famous ”I have a dream” speech.
I too have a dream. A dream that is the reason I set up KSH Safety Services. A dream that is the reason I have completed 22 years in health and safety.
I have a dream. A dream that everyone that goes to work, goes home at the end of their shift in the same physical condition. In Great Britain, in the year ending June 2020, 111 people never went home.
Today should have been the day many people’s dreams came true, to participate in a Paralympic Games. Those dreams are on hold, but can still come true. Dreams are common in sport, as they are in life. The last Commonwealth Games in Australia, for example, had a dream, a dream that was its motto.
I challenge you all to follow the Games’ motto and “Share the Dream” to make our workplaces healthier and safer. Whether it be by continuing to be Covid19 Secure, or introducing safety practices in your workplace, together we can all aim to make my dream a reality.
Whatever your dreams are I hope you succeed. I hope one day soon MLK’s dream finally becomes reality. I hope Paralympian athletes get their chance in 2021.
Let’s make all our dreams come true. Let’s make everyone at work go home in the evening.
