The end of an era

I am very sad to hear of the demise of Lancashire Occupational Health and Safety Group (LOHSG) today after over 90 years of service to safety professionals across the County Palatine. A part of Safety Groups UK, it was one of the oldest professional safety organisations, founded in 1930, originally in Preston.
I am proud to have joined the group’s Committee during the first lockdown and helped run numerous events online in that time, including a full day of online seminars. Those that attended may remember the day a large group of Russians invaded the Zoom event at the time. As Social Media Officer, you may also remember the social media advent calendars I did for a few years for them. For personal reasons, I left the committee after three years, but remained a member until the shock of today’s announcement.
But today isn’t about me, it's about those pioneers in workplace safety back in the 1930s, it's about the many businesses and individuals it has supported over the years. It's about the many volunteers that contributed with many hours of work to making it a success.
Lancashire Occupational Health and Safety Group, thank you.
You will be greatly missed.
The real end of an era.
