KSH Safety Services is saddened to hear of the death this morning of His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh at the age of 99. We mourn with The Queen and the rest of the Royal Family.
Prince Philip was an inspiration to many people, especially the young, giving many young people the opportunity to develop skills through his Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
For many years he was also Air Commodore in Chief of the RAF Air Cadets.
With both he prepared our young for their lives ahead, through adventure and skill development.
He was also very keen on good health and safety practices. Indeed, locally, he was a supporter of Lancashire Occupational Health and Safety Group.
In one message he sent them in 1990, he wrote "Most accidents at work are not strokes of fate, but accident prevention needs constant vigilance and attention."
Wise words from a man who served our country - and its Queen well for many many years.
May he rest in peace.
