Hello, I am Kevin S Heywood, founder and consultant with KSH Safety Services. If you are wondering why it’s Kevin S Heywood, its because Safety is my middle name.
(sorry for the pun)
Anyway, my business is now seven and a half years old, so I thought this blog would be a reminder of some of the consultancy services available to my clients. To do this, I have created a Chat GPT version of me to guide you through. So without further ado, meet AI Kevin.

When I set my business up in 2017, I wanted to do what I had been doing within businesses that I had been employed by for most of my career, helping them to be safer places to work. I wanted to do that without the restrictions of management, but with companies and management that actually wanted to make a difference too, and which would engage in the health and safety of their own businesses. Doing so from outside the businesses gave me more freedom and flexibility, and it was a decision I have never regretted.
As a result, some of the things I can assist businesses with are explained below.

I am a qualified ISO 45001 (2018) Lead Auditor, and this means I can support your business preparing for and maintaining the Standard. While I cannot be a lead auditor inside your business, I can be an internal auditor. I can help with formal or informal audits within your business. I am flexible to your needs. Also, for new clients, I offer a “where are you now” audit and action plan.

I can also help you and train you to do many types of risk assessment, in a format you like. One thing you won’t see me with though, unlike AI Kevin, is a clipboard. I am more technology friendly than that, try an Ipad instead. From generic risk assessments to specific assessments covering a particular issue, my nearly 27 years experience will help you reduce the risks from the hazards in your business.

I can also deliver in-house classroom training, designed specifically for your business. Examples include manual handling...

…and fire marshal training. Plus not forgetting you can buy over 130 online short courses, most approved by relevant professional bodies. You can buy courses individually, as a company by subscription, or in bulk for various teams. Visit www.kshsafetyonline.com for more information.

I can provide ad hoc noise meter readings so you can check if you need to get a specialist in…

Similarly with hand arm vibration tests, and basic air quality readings too.

Another new service is qualitative face fit testing... Yes the one with that lovely bitter taste!

I can assist you with writing fire and emergency plans, or personal emergency evacuation plans, (as well as training your fire marshals)

And I can help you establish and run Health and Safety Committees, a great way of engaging your workforce in health and safety issues within your company.

Being a member of the Institute of Industrial Accident Investigators, I can help you when accidents and incidents occur, and carry out the investigations that follow. Hopefully we won’t kill any gingerbread men like in the image.

I can do health and safety inspections and provide detailed reports with an action plan.

I can support you with COSHH, DSE, PUWER, and other assessments as required.
