NHS Test and Trace App and QR codes now available

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

The Government’s long awaited NHS Test and Trace App is now available on the App Store for iPhones and on Google Play for Android phones.

Owners of older Android devices or iPhones (6s or older) will not be able to download it as they are incompatible with the required Android 6.0 or iOS 13.5. The phone also needs Bluetooth 4.0 or higher.

The app is available for smartphones only - not tablets, smartwatches or other devices.

To get started, go to Android's Google Play or Apple's App Store and search for "NHS Covid-19".

All businesses in England and Wales that have Public on site or who hold events at a location, MUST display an NHS Test and Trace QR code unique to that location from 24 September 2020. You can get a code from https://www.gov.uk/create-coronavirus-qr-poster The official list of businesses can be found along with guidance at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/maintaining-records-of-staff-customers-and-visitors-to-support-nhs-test-and-trace

For those without smartphones or compatible phones, businesses must have another means of recording test and trace information as well, and this must be kept for three weeks.
